When we got to the Hotel Villa Diodoro in Taormina, I made a beeline for the pool. What I mean is that I did it without hesitation, as there was nothing resembling a beeline to the pool. Taormina hugs the side of Monte Tauro and going anywhere involves climbing up or down steps; there&#;s no straight line to anywhere.
