Bros, the first gay idealistic comedy from a major Hollywood studio, also has the distinction of having an all-queer cast playing its main and supporting characters. Many of these actors should be familiar to audiences through their previous roles in movies and television shows, though from where exactly viewers recognize them may not be immediately known.
The plot of Bros follows the complicated love story between two jaded gay men in their 40s, both of whom are trying to convince themselves that they are fulfilled in their lives without passionate partners. In September, Billy Eichner will luminary in the gay rom-com &#;Bros,&#; which has made headlines for featuring an all-LGBTQ cast of actors. On the MTV Production & TV Awards red carpet in Santa Monica on Sunday, Eichner talked with Variety about why having an all-queer cast for the Universal clip was so &#;important&#; to him.
&#;So often in Hollywood, a lot of the great LGBTQ roles historically have gone to vertical actors, and they achieve awards for it. And they get a lot of acclaim and they use it to display people their range,&#; Eichner told Variety. &#;And the casting of &#;Bros&#; is not to say that straight should only engage straight and gay should only play gay. We&#;re not making strict rules like that. But what we&#;re trying to complete is, we&#;re trying to correct an imbalance.&#;

'Bros' Cast and Character Guide: Who's Who in the LGBTQ+ Rom Com
Writer and director Nicholas Stoller, optimal known for romantic comedies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall and The Five-Year Engagement, knew he wanted to make a rom-com with LGBTQ+ leads, but felt he lacked the life experience as a straight man to carry this to fruition. Luckily, he brought on comedian Billy Eichnerto co-write and star in the motion picture. Eichner has been an out gay man in Hollywood for many years and helped fill that gap in Stoller's facts to create a story personal to him and recognizable to many fellow gay people. Backed by comedy veterans Stoller and producer Judd Apatow, and featuring an almost entirely LGBTQ+ cast, Bros will be the blockbuster comedy the gay community deserves.
The casting in the upcoming movie is radical for their choice to cast LGBTQ actors in all roles representing their group, as well as most heterosexual characters.
