"No personal questions" is the caveat before getting on the phone with Lea Michele, TV's Rachel Berry. It's an acceptable exception given the "Glee" star's painfully tragic last year: Her on- and off-screen boyfriend, Cory Monteith, died suddenly on July 13, 2013 from a drug overdose.
Recorded around the time of Monteith's passing, those feelings of loss are still uncooked on "Louder," Michele's debut album. The singer devoted "You're Mine" to Monteith, and the crushingly attractive "If You Say So" was inspired by his last words to her. "I can't believe it's true," she laments on the latter. "I retain looking for you."

How much of "Louder" is a reflection of your life and your control heartbreaks?
I did not sing one word on the record that I could not incorporate into some experience in my life. Whether it be current or past, every single song that I recorded is about me. It's a peek into my life, past and present. Maybe it's coming from my theater and performance background, but nothing felt right unless I could relate to it. I think it comes from being an star too. It had to be real for me. And not every lyric is about a current relationship or a current moment – I hold songs o

TORONTO — Jane Lynch remembered Canadian actor and Glee co-star Cory Monteith on Wednesday as a “really nice man” who was grateful for the triumph he had.

“We don’t neglect him,” Lynch said during an appearance on Global’s The Morning Show. “He was such a huge part of this display and he was one of those guys who knew that we were breathing rarefied air. He really knew that this show was something special.”

Monteith died in July 2013 of an overdose in Vancouver. He was 31.

“He’s a little older than the other kids so we kind of bonded on that,” said Lynch, 54. “He was extremely grateful for this exhibition and he knew what he had and he really lived every night. He was a really nice man.”

It seems a lot of people like the Fox series 'Glee.' So much so that the modern series has already been signed for 9 more episodes. Fox touts the show as “a fresh comedy for the aspiring underdog in all of us.” Glee’s certainly got it all: hit songs, dance, laughs, intrigue and gays.

Earlier this month, the cast of 'Glee' visited Chicago’s Orland Square Mall to meet the fans. That’s where ChicagoPride.com’s Michael J. Roberts and Alissa Norby had an opportunity to interview the multi-talented Gleekers and to gab about what it’s been like to star in America’s favorite show choir.

Here ChicagoPride.com talks to the relatively unknown Cory Monteith, who plays jock crooner Finn Hudson, the show's breakout star.

CP: (ChicagoPride.com) So you come from a television background more than a theatre background. So what's been the biggest adjustment, doing the antique song-dance-and jazz hand combo?

CM: (Cory Monteith) What hasn't been the biggest adjustment for me on this show [is more favor it]. It's been a huge learning curve for me. I've never sung.

CP: Any jazz hand injuries?

CM: Yeah I got a little carpal tunnel.

CP: We call that 'The Fosse

The Life and Death of ‘Glee’ Star Cory Monteith

News of Glee star Cory Monteith’s death over the weekend sent fans reeling. As Finn, the upper school football star-turned-musical theater heartthrob, the 31-year-old player had been a favorite, embodying the teenager who transforms from a kneejerk bully to someone who thinks for himself, making friends with those he once belittled.

When the exhibit debuted in 2009, Finn was the stereotypical homophobic jock, throwing slushies into the faces of unsuspecting kids walking through the halls of McKinley Tall. So it was marvelous to watch him evolve into someone who cared and stood up for members of his diverse new glee club gang, including the wheelchair-bound Artie and the gay Kurt, who would eventually change into his half brother. And when he fell for geeky girl Rachel (played by real-life-girlfriend-to-be Lea Michele), we fell in cherish with the star-crossed pair, too.

But the successful steep schooler Finn couldn’t contain been more different from Monteith. The Canadian player, who was found Saturday in his Vancouver hotel room, was a tall school dropout who had been battling drug addiction since he was 13. Monteith had anno
