You’ve seen the pride collections by all your favorite –and least favorite– brands, but what the mainstream is missing are the collections from queer owned beauty brands. This way you can celebrate diversity any time of the year by purchasing from them –not only in June!
We should note that in previous years there were 20 companies on our list. What happened, you may ask? Weve raised our standards! Just having the latest kingly queen at the helm doesnt cut it. And, being No Kill Mag, cruelty-free and conscious of using the best ingredients is also a given.
However, this year we also started looking closer at packaging. We dont possess to tell you how impossible it is to recycle the tubes, compacts and cases that home most beauty products. And sidenote: it seems mad to create Cruelty Free Beauty and then lay no thought into how the packaging is destroying the habitat of those same animals that we love.
We know packaging is a continuous progress and perfection isnt here yet. But weve eliminated any brand from our aged roundup that isnt conscious and talking about where they are on their journey to better packaging. So read on, be inspired and be beautiful!
LGBTQ Owned Beauty Brands You Should Know
Since June is Pride Month, Im thrilled to highlight some unbelievable LGBTQ owned beauty brands on my blog! However, these amazing indie brands deserve your support year-round, not just in June. They are worthy of a permanent spot in your makeup bag.
Pride Month is about much more than just posting a rainbow gif or sticker on your social media. Its about supporting a crucial human rights lead to. While sharing your favorite rainbow is great, its important to go beyond that. Use your voice, your privilege, and your platform to bring more attention to the LGBTQ community.
Im not usually an advocate for buying a lot of makeup—in reality, I even did a podcast episode and blog post about capsule makeup bags—but if youre running below average on anything, this is a perfect opportunity to try out products from smaller brands. Youll likely be pleasantly surprised by the quality. Big brands may have extensive advertising budgets, but that doesnt necessarily mean their products are superior.
