Since serenading queer crowds at gay clubs as a teenager, Nathan Sykes has been the subject of prurient curiosity regarding his own sexuality. He’s British, so there’s that. And the whole teen band thing, which began in 2009, when Sykes joined Eurodance group The Wanted, didn’t exactly disband “is he or isn’t he?” rumors.
Now, with his solo debut Unfinished Business is out in the midst of a band hiatus, the giggly 23-year-old opens up about progressing interest in his sexuality (“I didn’t know I was gay, but OK!”), his sometimes-“bromosexual” relationship with Tom Daley and existence “really drunk” at a gay club at 4 a.m.

I just wanted to talk about finally [getting] a big part in a movie, and I didn’t want to make it about my sexuality.”

Shortly after appearing on our screens in Geordie Shore series 10 support in 2015, Nathan Henry came out as male lover after previously living in front of the show’s cameras as a bisexual person man.
But it’s now been revealed that Nathan came out to his parents as gay when he was a teenager, around five years before he appeared on the MTV reality show.
Nathan, now 29, actually lied to producers about his sexuality because he thought that he wouldn’t be accepted onto the show if he told them he only dated men.
He told OK!, “Obviously I was lgbtq+ but I didn’t desire to tell people that because I didn’t reflect I’d get picked and I thought it would affect my career. I thought it would block be getting on the show.”
