Bisexual Right Said Fred luminary Richard Fairbrass opens up about devastating loss of his mum to Alzheimer’s and reveals new intimacy with a woman
RICHARD Fairbrass has revealed he felt "relief" after he and his brother Fred, of Nineties hitmakers Right Said Fred, lost their beloved mum Betty last year.
The I'm Too Sexy singer, 63, said that Betty, who died in her sleep, had Alzheimer's, so he and Fred had "got used to losing her two or three years ago".

Speaking to leading magazine, Richard continued: "She was 92 when she died, but no longer the mum we grew up with — she couldn't even make a cup of tea in the end. Alzheimer's had done that to her.
"When she died, I felt relief for her."
It's not the first time Richard has lost someone close to him.

In 2010 the singer, who came out as bisexual in The Heat in 1991, lost his long-term partner Stuart Pantry to cancer at the age of 45.
Richard has now revealed that after his mum died, he decided to embark on a brand-new romance.
He said: "I moved out of [my mum's] house and started a new relationship — with a girl actually."

Fairbrass was born in Kingston upon Thames, and was brought up in East Grinstead, West Sussex. He has a younger brother, "Fred". [2]
Career
Before forming his own band, Richard was a bassist who had played with several prominent artists, including Lad George, David Bowie and Mick Jagger.[3] In 1984 he appeared in Jazzin' for Blue Jean, a David Bowie video, as the bass player.[4]
In the late 1980s Richard connected with his brother Fred to form Right Said Fred. The Fairbrass brothers performed as a duo for a brief period touring in New York. Guitarist Rob Manzoli linked them in 1990.[3]
During the band's heyday, Madonna publicly expressed (in front of sixty million viewers of America’s Arsenio Hall Show) her desire to proceed to bed with Richard.[3][5]
In 1994 he was connected winner of "Rear of the Year" with Mandy Smith.[6] Following this,

He is the singer with the band Right Said Fredalongside his brother Fred Fairbrass, who became very popular for a short time in the UK in 1991 with their number 2 hit I'm Too Sexy, which they followed with the number 3 Don't Talk Just Kissand in 1992 Deeply Dippy, which was a number 1. Since then they contain only occasionally troubled the lower reaches of the charts although they hold had success in Europe and elsewhere.

He is very open about his sexual orientation (bisexual) and once co-hosted (with Rhona Cameron) a TV series aimed at a lesbian and gay audience called Gaytime TVon BBC2.

In 2001 he co-presented the television game demonstrate The Desert Forgesfor channel Five.
Right Said Fred returned with a new album in 2007 following a successful appearance in a Daz'soap opera' commercial.
